Main sponsor of React to Red 2017

5We are proud to be the main sponsor of the latest CHASE (Care Home Achievement Success Event) award for React to Red in Bassetlaw.

Many hard-working people were honoured in categories including unsung hero, innovator of the year and manager of the year.

Bassetlaw CCG’s award-winning Tissue Viability Team of Geraldine Reevell, Simone Richie and Tessa Anders organised the awards, on behalf of Nottingham NHS Healthcare Trust, and chose the winners.

The event was another huge success.

Our own Andy Robinson and Trisha Hayes have worked hard over the past year with the Tissue Viability Team. We’ve provided pressure mapping analyses, clinical trials and care home training across all 28 homes in the region, covering all staff.

This hard work and collaboration produced fantastic results, as across the homes’ 1,127 residents; there were only 11 avoidable pressure ulcers. The 1% rate has been nationally recognised.

Geraldine commented:

"A lot of the awards were nominated by the staff themselves. I would like to give a massive thank you to all involved. Keep up the good work and keep inspired."

Geraldine, Tessa and Simone run the React to Red programme, aiming to reduce the number of pressure ulcers among care home residents. Their train-the-trainer approach in tackling pressure ulcers is the first in the county to do so.

As a result of their efforts, all care homes they work with have had a dramatic fall in the number of residents suffering from pressure ulcers.

For our part, we will continue to support their fantastic work in our goal to achieve a 0% rate.

The night ended with a 20 minute firework display as a huge thank you for staff’s excellent performance over the last 12 months.
